I am currently providing therapy, coaching, and all other psychological services via video conferencing (telepsychology). Please read the important information below before proceeding with your telepsychlogy session.
Telepsychology risks and benefits
Telepsychology refers to providing psychological services remotely using telecommunications technologies, such as video conferencing or telephone. One of the benefits of telepsychology is that the client and psychologist can engage in services without being in the same physical location. It is also more convenient and takes less time. Telepsychology, however, requires technical competence on both our parts to be helpful. It also carries some additional risks to confidentiality. Because telepsychology sessions take place outside of the psychologist’s private office, there is potential for other people to overhear sessions if you are not in a private place during the session. On my end I will take reasonable steps to ensure your privacy. But it is important for you to make sure you find a private place for our session where you will not be interrupted.
Medical Insurance and Payments
Insurance coverage for teletherapy is evolving rapidly in the wake of COVID-19 epidemic. At the present time, all of the medical insurances I accept have added emergency coverage for teletherapy services. For some of these insurance companies, teletherapy provisions will expire when the state of emergency in Pennsylvania is lifted. For others, they will continue indefinitely.
For those patients whose insurance companies have teletherapy provisions in place, I will be billing all teleherapy sessions to your medical insurance. For those patients whose insurance companies eliminate the teletherapy provision and while I am still conducting sessions remotely, please talk to me about making an individual fee arrangement.
